PREMIERSHIP leaders Bristol squeezed past Worcester 24-23 thanks to Ratu Naulago’s stunning hat-trick.

The Fijian’s treble earned the bonus-point win but it was harder work than it had looked like being when his two tries in the first 26 minutes had put the Bears in control.

The Warriors fought back to lead 23-17 before Naulogo completed his hat-trick on 71 minutes.

Callum Sheedy held his nerve to kick the extras and secure a maximumpoints win.

Bristol boss Pat Lam said: “It feels like 10 points, with the amount of unavailability we have. Everyone did their jobs well as they had to step up. It’s a crucial win.”

EXETER CHIEFS remain on the Bears’ tails after coming from behind to beat BATH 38-16.

Two tries each from

Sam Skinner and Tom O’Flaherty underlined the Chiefs’ superiority in their bonus-point win.

Exeter head coach Ali Hepher said: “Our belief grew and then you saw a true Exeter Chiefs team.”

Billy Twelvetrees kept his cool as his late penalty saw GLOUCESTER snatch a 20-19 win at WASPS.

Despite playing with 14 men for 52 minutes following Ollie Thorley’s red card for a high tackle, Twelvetrees was on target just as Wasps looked set to win it.
