What I’m watching...

- BY KAREN ROCKETT

DS Steve Arnott joins specialist police anti-corruption unit AC-12 after refusing to help cover up a bungled police raid in which an innocent man is gunned down.

With the help of his boss Ted Hastings and undercover officer Kate Fleming, the unit launch an investigation into detective Tony Gates (Lennie James) who has a remarkably high arrest record.

AC-12 discover Gates helped to cover-up a hit-and-run involving his lover Jackie, who later died.

But Gates finds himself being framed by underworld gangster John “Tommy” Hunter (Brian McCardie). In the end, it turns out he wasn’t a corrupt copper after

all but had made bad decisions to try to hide his affair with Jackie.

In the gripping season finale, Gates arrests Tommy but realises his career is over and walks into the path of an oncoming lorry.

We also discover that another officer in Gates’ team – DS Matthew “Dot” Cottan (Craig Parkinson) has been an inside snitch for gangster Tommy.

AC-12 shine their spotlight on DCI Roz Huntley (Thandie Newton] after her forensics supervisor Tim Ifield (Jason Watkins) raises concerns.

He insists there has been a possible miscarriage of justice in her team’s arrest of a suspected serial killer.

Soon after Huntley confronts Ifield at his home, he is found dead and she turns up at work with a bizarre hand injury.

Eventually, it transpires that

Huntley killed Ifield during a fight at his home. She admits accidental manslaughter and is jailed – after having her gammy hand amputated.

Around the same time, a man in a balaclava pushes Arnott down a flight of stairs. He miraculously recovers but ends up in a wheelchair for some time.

We also discover that in Cottan’s final moments he told Fleming that there is a corrupt copper ringleader known only as “H”.

Hastings and another top copper called Derek Hilton – who ends up dying – are among the many possibilities.

To all those kids who leave school with few or no qualifications, I hope you get inspiration from 33-year-old Adam Frisby who, despite not having a single GCSE, is now worth an eye-watering £35million. It’s all thanks to him starting online fashion store In The Style in his bedroom with a redundancy cheque of £1,000. His business concept was simple – buy cheap and sell high. And with the help of social media, it took off.

He said: “When I started the business, I had no formal qualifications or business knowledge, so I’ve had to learn it all along the way, and following my gut has been such an important part of that.”

I can’t help but admire a man with such business style and flair.

COMEDIAN Tim Minchin has accused ticket resale sites of being “cheating scumbags” for hiking seat prices.

He claims online firms are ripping off fans, artists and producers while the live entertainment industry is “on its knees” because of Covid.

The English-born Aussie stand-up, best known for his musical comedy, hit out as seats went on sale for his autumn UK

BLAST Tim fury at resale firms tour on Friday. He tweeted: “Never buy tickets from Viagogo or other resale sites. They are cheating scumbags. They buy tickets in bulk to increase scarcity, then sell them at hugely inflated prices. “They contribute nothing. Our industry is on its knees.”

Minchin, 45, said people who genuinely wanted to trade unused tickets should try Twickets instead. The fan-tofan site caps a ticket’s resale

price at face value.

Lupin on Netflix.

It’s such a rollicking good story. The central character models himself on a gentleman thief and is out to avenge an injustice to his father. He’s so crafty and clever, and I love the French look of the production.

Family recommendation...

My family has gone retro and we’ve been watching the old Mr Bean episodes on Netflix. That type of humour is timeless and crosses all generations.

Dream telly role...

I’ve always had a man crush on Vikings and their big beards, so I love the TV series. I’d like to play a quirky, vegetarian Viking!

What I’m most looking forward to...

My wife Marina and I binged on the HBO drama Succession, and the last episode of the second series ended on the most amazing cliffhanger, so we can’t wait for the next season.
