SUNDERLAND TRANMERE EFL TROPHY FINAL 2020/21 PREVIEW

- By STEVE JUDGE at Loftus Road

JUNINHO BACUNA handed out a lesson in first-time finishing to ease Huddersfield’s relegation fears.

QPR wing-back Todd Kane fluffed the home side’s best chance of the first half from Ilias Chair’s pull-back, Huddersfield keeper Ryan Schofield easily saving the scuffed shot. R’s No.1 Seny Dieng was given no such opportunity by Bacuna, who rifled Pipa’s 55th-minute ball into the top-left corner.

Terriers boss Carlos Corberan, whose side moved nine points above the drop zone, said: “The players with their spirit and mentality did fantastic work in defence to get these three points.

“Bacuna is a player who can help the team. We know when he gets in those positions he is a good finisher.”

Rangers boss Mark Warburton pinpointed the period before half-time as the moment the game slipped away from his team.

He said: “We lacked a cutting edge. We dominated the last 20 minutes of the first-half and had to get our rewards then. We lost our shape and they punished us.”

DARREN DRYSDALE says Alan Judge

(both below) called him a “cheating, bald c***”.

Judge says he never called him a cheat and never called him a c***.

Just bald then, I guess.

But seriously, Judge did admit saying, “You’ve got to be f ****** joking me”.

“And I said that a couple of times,” confirmed Judge.

Ah, that’s OK.

Just a reminder, Bristol Bears’ Kyle Sinckler was banned for a fortnight this year for asking ref Karl Dickson: “Are you f ****** serious?”

It seems rugby and football have different values when it comes to respecting officials.
