Stay calm says boss

- By JANINE SELF at St Andrew’s

MARK ROBINS called for calm after watching his Coventry players blow two points in their relegation battle.

The Sky Blues manager saw a first half of missed chances turn into a second half of frustration against the Championship’s bottom club.

He said: “The first half was really good and we should have been three or four up but we didn’t take our chances. The second half they made it harder.

“But we dealt with everything in the second half and if you can’t win at least don’t lose. We went away from what we are good at and we have to stay calm.”

Wycombe’s cause is surely lost but no-one can accuse the Championship’s bottom club of lacking heart in their efforts to pull off a miracle.

They certainly lived dangerously though and quite how the match was

“It was tough but I’m really pleased with their efforts. If we had points for effort we’d be way up the league.”

The scene was set in the opening minute when Fankaty Dabo spotted Gustavo Hamer in space only for the midfielder’s shot to go just wide.

Then Max Biamou had two glorious opportunities in the first half hour. The first came after an Anthony Stewart mistake but David Stockdale raced to the rescue with a crucial block (above).

Then Biamou raced on to a through ball from Sam McCallum but hesitated before shooting wildly.
