Fergie’s big miss

DARREN FERGUSON admitted his Peterborough side blew it after the lights went out on their chances of claiming a much-needed win.

A power cut struck the ground with 10 minutes remaining, which led to a 15-minute delay.

And when play eventually resumed, substitute Joel Randall spurned the hosts best opening when he blazed over from 10 yards out on 81 minutes after a silky run from Siriki Dembele.

And Posh almost nicked the points in injury-time when Dan Butler’s deflected effort from close range looped onto the roof of the Barnsley net.

Despite ending a run of three successive defeats, Posh boss

Ferguson (above) rued his side’s missed chances.

Ferguson moaned: “It’s definitely two points dropped, it was a game lacking in real quality from both teams. We cancelled each other out.

“In a game like that when you get the one big chance you win it and go away with the three points – that was a big moment.

“We’ve played far better at home this season and lost, we dominated the ball more in the second-half.

“We’ve just got to keep believing that the results will turn.”

The result leaves both teams in the Championship relegation zone and marks the first point of Poya Asbaghi’s reign as Barnsley boss in what was his second game in charge.

He said: “We don’t know how important this point might be at the end of the season.

“It’s up to us now to make sure this point will be worth something. I’m happy with the clean sheet.” PETERBOROUGH: Cornell 6; Knight 6, Edwards 7, Butler 5; Thompson 7, Coventry 5 (Norburn 59, 5), Taylor 6, Burrows 5 (Randall 71, 5); Dembele 7; Corbett 5 (Szmodics 59, 6), Clarke-Harris 6.
