Away from the parks

There’s so much more to Orlando than just the theme parks so throw yourself into the wider Christmas spirit at these great events…

Harry P. Leu Gardens: The Dazzling Nights outdoor holiday event runs until January 9 – a three-quarter-mile long interactive festive experience with some majorly epic lighting installations, themed photo moments, live entertainment and a whole lot more. And ICON Park has been transformed into a magical winter wonderland with a 40ft high Christmas tree visible from International Drive.

Ring in the New Year

Start the big countdown! New Year’s celebrations in Orlando are legendary with exclusive five-course dinners and theme park celebrations.

Examples include The New Year’s Eve Dinner at JW Marriott Orlando Bonnet Creek Resort & Spa’s Sear + Sea restaurant, which features a gourmet meal and rooftop terrace boasting nightly views of the special theme park fireworks.

Downtown Orlando’s Wall St Plaza area features multiple themed bars linked by an open-air courtyard for an annual New Year’s Eve Block

Party with light shows, dance parties and a big countdown to 2022. On

International Drive, try Mango’s Tropical Cafe and Tapa Toro among the numerous venues hosting celebrations with entertainment and live music.

Shopping experiences

Get your credit cards ready. Orlando promises outdoor shops under the palm trees in all that Florida winter sunshine or indoor opportunities at the malls – but both mean great deals and excellent value. Orlando Premium Outlets is the place to nail down discounted merchandise from designers and brands such as Armani, Burberry, Prada and Coach.

The sophisticated Mall at Millenia is a premium retail venue with more than 150 high end stores, valet parking and excellent personal shopping services.

But Winter Park’s Park Avenue offers a more quaint and cosy shopping experience.

You get 10 tree-lined blocks of cobbled streets and historic buildings with boutiques selling fine wines and the latest fashions with chic cafes for a well-deserved pitstop and refuel.

Plan your trip

With 450 hotels in the Orlando area there’s something for everyone, with large resorts to themed boutique properties and pretty much all the accommodation options in between.

The theme parks, attractions, hotels and businesses have developed comprehensive Covid safety measures and worked closely with medical experts to create safe travel experiences for visitors.

It’s not too late to book a festive Florida getaway.
