TV entertainer James Corden may be a multi-millionaire showbiz entrepreneur – but he can’t do his kid’s homework.

The Late Late Show star was baffled when son Max asked for help with his maths and admits he could not tell his Pi from his percentages.

He said: “This is not a joke. I legitimately could not do my 10-year-old son’s math homework. He said, ‘Dad can you help me with this? And I said, ‘Of course I can. Let’s sit down. Let’s open this up...”

But James, 43, just could not make the numbers add up.

He confessed: “I was like, ‘How do you know how to do this? What are these lines for? What is it with tiny numbers,

bro? Big numbers, little lines, tiny numbers… this is crazy. Should not all the numbers be the same size?’”

James, who also has two daughters – Carey, seven, and Charlotte, four –with wife Julia, shot to fame as Smiffy in comedy Gavin and Stacey.

He is now riding high in the US after clocking up 1,000 episodes of The Late Late Show – and is close to sealing a £15m two-year return deal.

He said: “I can’t remember a time when Graham Norton wasn’t on, on a Friday night.

“That entire show is so incredible – it’s a hallmark of British television – and they’ve done slightly less than 500 shows.

“It’s mad to think we’ve made 1,000 hours of television. It’s a lot to think about.”

The 1,000th show featured a performance by pop superstar Mariah Carey.

And James says a lot of his success is down to her after she appeared on one of his early shows and drove around with him, belting out hits including All I want For Christmas Is You.

He told showbiz site Deadline: “I’ve told her privately, I’ll never be able to thank her enough. We owe her a lot.”
