Carr: We belong in fast lane

- PLAY-OFF BID KEITH WEBSTER

DEREK CARR called on the people of Las Vegas to carry the Raiders into next week’s play-offs when they face a do-or-die shoot-out tonight.

Carr is in his eighth season with the team that moved from Oakland to Nevada two years ago.

The Raiders have been in the play-offs just once in the past 17 seasons, and Carr missed that game five years ago through injury.

Chances of that happening this season appeared slim over a month ago, but three wins a row means victory at home in the final game of the regular season against the Los Angeles Chargers will see the Raiders play in the first round of the play-offs.

The Raiders quarterback said: “It’s going to be exciting. It will be loud. It’s our play-off game for our fans.

“What an exciting time for the last game of the season to mean so much for our city. To think about where we have come from and see where we are today. Hopefully it’s a loud atmosphere. Las Vegas, we need you.”

Carr reckons the fact that the Raiders have been living week-to-week at the end of the season will have them in the right frame of mind for tonight.

He added: “That has been the feeling around our team for the last month. This one is exciting because it is the last one.

“But I’ve felt like the last month we’ve been playing in our play-offs. If we had lost any of these, it really wouldn’t matter. I know our team is ready to go.

“We realise what’s at stake. I have all the confidence in the world in our team to be ready to play. We’re not going to be too high on the emotion of it. We know what to do.”
