Victim Virginia writes moving statement ahead of sentencing

PRINCE Andrew’s accuser Virginia Giuffre has sent a devastating message to Ghislaine Maxwell ahead of the child trafficker’s sentencing, saying: “You deserve to spend the rest of your life in a jail cell.”
Ms Giuffre, Sarah Ransome and Annie Farmer are among seven women who have written emotional victim impact statements to Judge Alison Nathan ahead of Tuesday’s hearing, in New York.
Maxwell, 60, is facing up to 55 years in jail after last December being convicted of child trafficking while part of Jeffrey Epstein’s depraved empire of abuse.
In her testimony, filed to the court late on Friday, Ms Giuffre addressed Maxwell directly, writing: “You deserve to spend the rest of your life in a jail cell. You deserve to be trapped in a cage forever, just like you trapped your victims.
“If you ever get out of prison I will be here, watching you, making sure you never hurt anyone else again.”
Ms Giuffre agreed a multi-million pound out-of-court settlement with Andrew earlier this year over her claims that he had abused her.
The payment was made by Andrew despite his repeated denials of her allegations and his claim in 2019 that he had no recollection of even meeting her, despite an infamous photo of him with his arm around the then 17-year-old.
Ms Giuffre’s statement continued: “Ghislaine, the pain you have caused me is indescribable.
“Because of your choices and the world you brought me into, I don’t sleep. Nightmares wake me at all hours.
“In those dreams I relive the awful things you and others did to me and the things you forced me to do. Those memories will never go away. I am hypervigilant because I know that evil exists. You taught me that. There is not a day that goes by that I don’t ask ‘why?’
“Why, Ghislaine, did you enjoy hurting us so much?”
At her trial last year Maxwell was found guilty of five counts, including trafficking and recruiting girls as young as 14 for paedo financier Epstein, who killed himself in jail in 2019. The offences occurred between 1994 and 2004, when the pair were dating. Jurors heard two women testify they were 14 when Maxwell coaxed them into engaging in sex acts with Epstein.
And one told the court Maxwell, who is being held inside tough Metropolitan Detention Centre in Brooklyn, New York, took part in some of the encounters.
Sarah Ransome, who was born in South Africa, but now lives in England, has also written to the judge.
She alleges she was a victim between 2006-2007. Ms Ransome has previously alleged that Maxwell was the “nuts and bolts of the sex-trafficking operation” carried out by Epstein, saying “she was like the madam”.
She explained how she had hoped to work in fashion by studying at the Fashion Institute of Technology, but claimed her dreams were destroyed by Epstein and Maxwell.
Epstein survivors Maria Farmer, Teresa Helm, Juliette Bryant, and a woman known only as Kate, have also written victim impact statements ahead of the hearing.
