Lioness White: So great to sit down with Kane and analyse both our goals ... it has really set me up for Euros

WHEN Harry met Ellen, what did they talk about?

Goals, of course.

The FA arranged for England’s prolific sharpshooters to compare notes.

So, no prizes for guessing the main topic of conversation between a duo who have clobbered in more than a century between them for their country.

White, who is hoping to add to the Golden Boot she won at the World Cup in France three years ago at the Euros, said: “It was great to have a conversation with Harry.

“We talked about our debuts, what he likes to do in training, but then also looking at his movement and the way he scores goals.

“We looked back on our goals together, which was just a lovely thing to do. We spent about 15 minutes together.

“I think we are very similar in as much as we love training – but we want to do the shooting drills at the end.

“That’s where the conversation went. It was more about training.

“The best place to shoot is always in the corners – because that’s the most difficult place for keepers to get to.

“It’s about maintaining those standards out on the pitch that you have set in training.

“I’m always asking about more shooting – then everyone else jumps in and wants to do the same – and it’s the same with Harry.

“We love that part of training, the repetition of shooting.”

White is again likely to be leading the line for the Lionesses when their European Championship gets under way on July 6 against Austria at Old Trafford.

The Manchester City striker, 33, is approaching the twilight of her career.

But she remains the favoured choice of England boss Sarina Wiegman up front.

The Dutch coach arrived at the FA last September, having led her own country to glory five years ago.

White said: “She’s set out her stall as to the way we want to play. It’s hard to imagine what it’s going to be like. She is always talking about her experience and how she wants

her team to play and be the best-prepared team.

“She does really encourage that level of understanding of what’s right.

“Once we walk over that white line, we need to figure out stuff – and do it quickly. We can’t just wait until half-time.

“There’s communication from the sideline, but she has instilled confidence in every player to make those decisions. And we have grown since September. We have been building a sense of family.

“As a squad, there is now depth. Not just internationally, but through club football – the experience of playing in the Champions League and cup finals.

“I’m surrounded by very talented players who can put the ball in front of me so I can score.

“In prior years, I wanted to be involved and I was just running around.

“But to be a striker that scores goals, I have to be in front of goal.

“It’s something I want to improve upon.”
