Neil feels roar-some after win

- By TONY BANKS

MILLWALL made it two wins in five days as they all but ended their Championship relegation fears with a battling display.

Neil Harris’ side gave themselves a six-point cushion thanks to goals from Michael Obafemi, Jake Cooper and Duncan Watmore.

Mid-table Cardiff threatened briefly, but this was a case of the side with something to play for winning all the challenges.

Harris said: “Every man and his dog has been telling me these lads can’t play at the Den.

“But they have been brilliant. My job since I came has been to galvanise this club.

“But it is all down to the players when they go out there. This was a comprehensive performance.”

Cardiff started brightly as Perry Ng blazed over. But Millwall punished the Welshmen, as Obafemi controlled Zian Flemming’s pass and drilled his shot inside the near post.

The nervous Lions, though, allowed Cardiff back into the game, as Rubin Colwill floated in a free-kick and Yakou Meite headed home.

And Cardiff should have been ahead when a corner dropped straight to Nat Phillips, but he missed from eight yards.

Again Cardiff were punished as Romain Esse crossed, Ryan Longman flicked the ball on and Cooper crashed his shot home.

After that, Millwall kept a firm grip on things, although there was always tension with such a narrow lead.

But Harris’ team wrapped up the points in the 93rd minute, when Brooke Norton-Cuffy crossed and Watmore scored.

Cardiff manager Erol Bulut said: “The second half was not acceptable. Our mentality needs to change.”
