Seagulls’ old flock in talks
JAMES MILNER is sweating on a new deal with Brighton as the south coast club considers new contracts for three of its super-veterans.
The 38-year-old Milner has played 20 times this season but is currently injured and has suffered a series of setbacks during the campaign.
Now manager Roberto De Zerbi says Manchester City and Liverpool legend Milner (above) may have to accept that he will not play as often, as the club begins talks.
Former Southampton and Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana, who turns 36 next week, is expected to be offered another deal, having played 29 times so far this campaign.
De Zerbi said: “Lallana and Milner can’t play every game, but if we manage them in the right way they are important players.
“In Adam’s case, in the second half of the season he has been more or less available every game. Milner is different and his age is a little higher. I’d like them to stay another season.”
Former Manchester United and Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck, 33, has been deep in talks, and De Zerbi said: “Dan is close to signing.”
