LURED TO THEIR SLAUGHTER

Munich monster’s Facebook message: Come to McDonald’s

- From Dan Warburton in Munich

THE Munich monster tried to lure his victims to their deaths like a modern Pied Piper with a Facebook message.

Twisted schoolboy Ali Sonboly, 18, posed as a pretty girl to offer free Big Macs before shooting dead nine people, mainly teenagers.

THE schoolboy who murdered nine in Friday’s Munich massace lured his victims like a Pied Piper by promising free Big Macs on Facebook.

Ali Sonboly, 18, set up a false page on the social media site to lay a deadly trap for his rampage.

The fake page carried the name Selina Akim and a photograph of a pretty Middle Eastern girl.

“Selina” began posting messages just hours before the massacre promising free food to anyone who turned up at the McDonald’s restaurant where Sonboly was waiting.

His message read: “Come today to the Maccy’s at 4 o’clock at Olympia Einkaufzentrum. I’ll give you something if you want, but not too expensive.”

Police last night confirmed the German-born son of Iranian asylum seekers had hacked into another person’s social media account and used it to set up the attack.

Another message sent by “Selina” said: “You can talk to me at McDonald’s. I’m here at 4pm. Everyone should come.”

Some saw through the ruse and one, Lukas Re, warned others off.

He said: “The guy is disturbed mentally and just wants attention. If someone is already there can he confirm that there is no Selina.”

But within hours nine people aged 13 to 45, seven of them teenagers, l ay dead outside the mall.

Nearly 30 others were injured, ten critically.

Firing

Shocking footage showed the moment Sonboly pulled out a 9mm Glock automatic pistol and began firing at people as they walked towards the fast food restaurant.

He then crossed the road and went into the Olympia Einkaufzentrum mall and continued firing.

Sonboly, who had 300 bullets in his pockets, then tried to flee the scene. But he was shot at by a plainclothes officer before giving police the slip.

His body was found in a side street hours later, after he apparently turned the unlicensed pistol on himself.

As Germany came to terms with the killing, a chilling picture of the schoolboy’s obsession with far-right extremism began to emerge.

A neighbour who lives in the flat below Sonboly’s family home told how the teenager was bullied at school and had recently threatened to kill after being subjected to taunts.

The neighbour, who would only be identified as Safete, 14, said: “He was shy, he only had a couple of friends but he was bullied a lot.

“He got into a fight recently and threatened to kill his attackers. He predicted what he was going to do. He said he wanted to carry out a massacre, he said, ‘I will kill you all.’ “He said he would hurt them, that he would kill them. He wasn’t very popular. “He used to be a paperboy in the building, delivering the free paper. He would always say, ‘Hello’ and smile. “But I saw him at around 12pm on Thursday and he looked different. I said ‘ Hello’ and he just looked down and didn’t say anything. He was different.” As well as being an unpopular youth, Sonboly was said to be inspired by farright terrorsists. His slaughter was carried out on the fifth anniversary of Anders Breivik’s atrocity Norway in 2011 when 77 people were killed.

Sonboly’s friends revealed he proudly used an image of Breivik, 37, as his profile picture on the social media network WhatsApp.

Police discovered a stash of literature about “frenzied attacks” in Sonboly’s bedroom. One book was entitled “Rampage in Head: Why Students Kill.”

Munich police chief Hubertus Andrae said there was no evidence” of links to an Islamic State terror cell.

Instead officers confirmed Sonboly had a history of mental health problems and had previously received psychiatric treatment. Among his dead victims were four Turkish teenage pals, Sabina Sulaj, Can Leyla, Selcuk Kilic and Armel Segashi, all aged between 14 and 15.

Another of the dead, a lad aged 18, died a hero saving his sister by pushing

her out of the way. Their father, a Greek, suffered a heart attack just moments after learning his son had died and was last night critically ill. Another of the dead, Dijamant Zabergja, 21, from Kosovo, was the son of a police officer. Naim Zabergja visited the scene with flowers and a poignant photograph yesterday. Naim said: “His friend ran aw away, b but th the shootersho killed my son. I am stillsst dreaming, I still don’t believe what happened, my family still doesn’t believe it either.”

A group of childhood friends of 18-year-old Guilliano Kollmann gathered in the rain to pay their respects.

Guilliano was in McDonald’s when Sonboly burst in and started shooting.

Awful

He reportedly ran out of the back entrance but Sonboly circled the building and shot him in the back.

A pal called Dennis said: “He was friendly, smiling, everyone liked him. He was always laughing – a good guy. I feel awful.”

One survivor, Isabella, told how she had come to mall so that her 12-year-old son could compete in a chess match. They decided to take a break at 5:50pm.

At exactly 5: 50pm, they crossed t he street a nd entered an electronics shop. Officials say that it was at 5:50 that shooting began.

“I feel like the angels were watching over us in those ten mins,” said Isabella who knelt beside a sea of candles and lit one herself.

The mayor of Munich declared a day of mourning for the victims, saying he was “shocked and aghast at this terrible act”.

He said: “These are difficult hours for Munich. Our city stands united.”

German Chancellor Angela Merkel said: “We are all mourning with a heavy heart for those who died.”

Counter terrorism officers at MI5 have warned that a lone wolf attack could uld happen in the UK.

Britain’s’ s terror alert status is at the second alarm level el of severe, meaning an attack is highly likely. ely.

Lone wolves olves are the biggest fear ear for the UK as they y create little or no warnings nings through email or phone hone chats.
