CHELSEA v WEST HAM SLEEPLESS IN SW6

BOSS IS TAILOR-MADE FOR BLUES

- By Tom Hopkinson by Jack Lang

ANTONIO CONTE will battle the world’s best bosses – and insomnia – as he strives to lead Chelsea to glory this season.

The new Stamford Bridge boss admits he finds it difficult to sleep the night before matches and, if he loses, even more so the night after.

But Conte, whose side launch their campaign at home to West Ham tomorrow, knows his lack of kip will all be worthwhile if he can lead his side to the title.

He said: “When you win, you know yourself about the sacrifices you have made, the many nights you haven’t slept.

Beast

THE Premier League already has its Tinker(man), a platoon of soldiers and plenty of scouts who earn a living spying on other players and clubs.

Now, it appears, English football has its very own tailor as well. Italian boss Antonio Conte may not be an avid John le Carre reader but, according to one of his countrymen, he is the perfect man to bring Chelsea in from the cold.

West Ham defender Angelo Ogbonna (left), who won two Serie A titles under Conte at Juventus faces his former manager tomorrow night – and revealed he has a very special nickname for him.

Ogbonna said:“I call him ‘Tailor’ because he’s someone who can repair teams. He came to Juventus when they weren’t playing well. He came to the national team when they weren’t playing well. Now maybe he can repair Chelsea.”

Asked what Conte will bring to Stamford Bridge, Ogbonna said: “Passion. Character. He likes to improve his players with physical methods. He likes to improve their character.

“The anger is just for show. On the pitch you can feel that he’s hungry, but he’s not angry.”
