DOUBLE gold medal Olympics hero Max Whitlock is in such demand, even his fiancée finds it hard to spend time with him.

Team GB gymnast Max cannot wait to get on with planning his wedding with Leah Hickton now he’s home from Rio.

But Leah laughed: “I had to book in with his agent. I asked if I could have him for a couple days. That’s what I have to do now! I’ve hardly seen him but I’m just so proud. We’re on cloud nine.”

Max, 23, said: “I want to be really hands on with the wedding planning. Leah has got a few ideas but I’m quite creative and I’d like some input. We’ve got the venue booked but we haven’t done the guest list or anything. “I’m looking forward to getting some time with her.” Leah, 24, added: “The wedding is next year. It’ll just be close friends and family but I’ve got a really big family. “I haven’t had a chance to think about it yet. Jason, 28, returned triumphant­ly from Rio with his trio of medals on Tuesday.

He and fiancée and fellow cyclist Laura Trott, 24 – said to be tying the knot next month – were snapped at the BBC’s Blue Peter garden in Manchester.

The Olympic power couple, who together won five golds in the Rio velodrome, were both given Blue Peter badges to signal their track record.

Jason has six Olympic golds – the highest number for a British athlete, alongside Chris Hoy. After the Rio heat he reckons peddling ice cream is pretty cool. sit down and plan it. I’ve started looking at dresses.

“Max really wants to get involved. He wants to know what’s going on.”

The couple are planning to start a family next year and decided Leah would not risk going to Brazil with Max because of the Zika virus.

“It wasn’t an easy decision,” he recalled. “She actually had flights booked. It was gutting not having her out there.” Max added: “I’m going to take some time off and take Leah shopping for her birthday. “She had to book the time in as my schedule has been so crazy. We’re going on a spree and I’ll buy her whatever she wants. “She’s been amazing throughout this whole journey.” Max and Leah met nine years ago as teenagers at a gymnastics club in Essex. Leah said: “He asked me out and here we are.” Max proposed during a visit to the Lake District in June. Leah, who is a gymnastics coach, said: “Us both being in gymnastics helps. I understand when he needs to go away.” Meanwhile Max is already looking forward to Tokyo 2020 – and hopes to add to the golds he won in the pommel horse and floor routines. “There’s more to come from me,” he vowed.
