Koeman’s loving the high life

-

RONALD KOEMAN savoured seeing his EVERTON team continue their unbeaten start to their Premier League campaign.

The new Toffees boss was disappointed the Blues didn’t score more in their 1-0 win over STOKE.

But with England manager Sam Allardyce looking on, Ross Barkley produced a man-of-the-match display in midfield as Everton stayed third.

Koeman said: “Maybe it is good to take a picture of that league table and keep it until the end of the season.

“We’d like to keep it that way but we need to improve, play better.

“We are still not on the right level and we have seven points out of nine.”

ARSENAL boss Arsene Wenger was delighted and relieved to get the first win of the season under his belt – and vowed there is more to come.

A convincing 3-1 victory at WATFORD settled the nerves and raised the spirits and Wenger said: “We will get better when we are physically stronger.

“It has taken some time to get that first win but it was a strong, fluent performance – especially in the first half.”

SUNDERLAND boss David Moyes will continue his search for a new keeper after rookie stand-in Jordan Pickford cost his team two points at SOUTHAMPTON.

Pickford conceded a soft goal from a Jay Rodriguez shot in a 1-1 draw.

Moyes said:“I told Jordan I thought he played really well. He said to me ‘sorry about the mistake’.

“We’ll need to bring in another goalkeeper, no doubt, but I wouldn’t expect to do that until Tuesday.”

Jurgen Klopp believes LIVERPOOL’S performance in their 1-1 draw at SPURS showed considerable progress since he took over 10 months ago.

His first match was a goalless draw at White Hart Lane and Klopp recalled: “Simon Mignolet saved our lives then. Today he had one brilliant save.

“I still feel a little bit disappointed when we play like this because we could have won the game.”
