DELIA OR NO DELIA

Lowe & behold Channel 4 chase kitchen legend for Bake Off role

- By Janine Ya Yaqoob by Emma Pryer TV EDITOR

TV kitchenkitche queen Delia Smith m may replace Mary Berry on The Great Britis British Bake Off. De Delia, 75, is being lined up to step in after the sh show moves from the B BBC to Channel 4. She would partner Paul Hollywood, 50, the only Bake Off star to stay after makers Love Productions sold the programme for £75million in a three-year deal.

Meanwhile Location Location, Location duo Kirstie Allsopp and SULTRY Daisy Lowe could knock the spots off her Strictly rivals, even in these sky-high heels.

The model’s flex appeal may keep her and partner Aljaz Skorjanec, 26, in pole position after wowing with a waltz in week one.

They have rehearsed hard but found time to pose with a panda to raise awareness for the World Wildlife Fund. Last night Daisy, 27, was hoping her cha-cha to CeeLo Green’s Forget You would be really memorable. Phil Spencer have been sounded out to replace Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins as hosts of the next Bake Off series. TV chiefs believe Kirstie, 45, and Phil, 46, would be ideal to switch from property to puddings. An insider said: “Talks with Kirstie and Phil went well. They poke fun at each other and can match, if not better, Mel and Sue. Phil feels he’s up for the job and Kirstie is an experienced baker.”

There has been speculation that Mary, 81, Sue, 47, and Mel, 48, will launch a rival BBC food show.

Delia, who fronted cookery shows for many years and has sold more than 21 million books, was not available to comment yesterday.
