the meantime, the Government will provide angry sound bites.

The FA will come up with a scheme to crackdown on suspect behaviour – and then those involved will carry on as they did before.

It’s heart-breaking, particularly if you are a football romantic.

But please don’t fall into the trap of thinking this so- called sting has happened to an unfortunate few.

This grubby, sleazy underbelly is where the sport operates. And it does so from the top down – as FIFA have demonstrated so wonderfully well.

From the embers of that burnt-out stand to the ashes of Allardyce’s career, nothing has changed but the size of the prize.

The ‘Beautiful Game’? Seriously, don’t make me laugh. MESUT OZIL (below) justly received praise for handing over his shirt to a punter at the end of Arsenal’s victory over Chelsea last week.

Just a thought, but couldn’t every single Premier League club embrace this gesture?

For the cost of a shirt, the goodwill would be enormous.

The players don’t always all have to dance towards the supporters – that’s a difficult one after a 3-0 home defeat.

However, nominating one player every home match to go and throw a jersey to a child surely isn’t too much to ask?
