WE DON’T Insurance rep slur on

A SMUG sales rep from an insurance firm mocked British troops with post-traumatic stress by calling them la-la”.

Insurance giant Aon, which sells its PAX policies to the armed forces and is government approved, was forced to apologise over the dismissive comment on payouts for PTSD.

While giving a presentati­on at a military base, the salesman – himself a former Army warrant officer – was asked if his company was covering servicemen and women left traumatise­d after serving in war zones.

They were told such cases are not covered – but soldiers listening were outraged when the salesman remarked: “We don’t do la-la.”

A source said: “For the representa­tive of a company selected by the Government to make these comments is outrageous.

“These people are suppose to be looking after the best interests of our soldiers, the brave men and women who serve to keep us safe deserve better.

“There are thousands of troops struggling with PTSD and this sort of attitude makes a mockery of the sacrifice they make.” The case came to light after a shocked senior officer listening to the presentati­on reported the salesman. PAX is a personal accident and life insurance brand aimed at people in the military. It is owned by Aon, one of the world’s largest insurance brokerages, which made a profit of more than £1billion last year.

The policies are underwritt­en by American insurance giant AIG.

In a statement to the Sunday People, the insurers said: “Aon strongly condemns the use of such language and apologises for the offence caused.
