MPs: Labour is anti Jewish
JEREMY Corbyn’s Labour Party is today branded “institutionally antisemitic” in a report by MPs.
The leader is rapped for not preventing it giving “a safe space for those with vile attitudes towards Jewish people”.
And his new shadow Attorney General Baroness Chakrabarti’s own investigation into Labour antisemitism is rubbished.
The former head of human rights group Liberty is heavily criticised for accepting a Labour peerage and joining Mr Corbyn’s inner circle, which has “thrown into question” the inquiry’s independence. Labour, Tory and SNP MPs on the Commons Home Affairs Committee are united in their savaging of Mr Corbyn.
Tory acting chair Tim Loughton said: “This report does not pull itsts punches. It was agreed unanimously y by the committee.”
Labour’s former Business Secretary Chuka Umunna said: “We would be putting our heads in the sand if we denied antisemitism exists among a minority.”
The report, Antisemitism in the UK, says: “The failure of the Labour Party consistently and effectively to deal with antisemitic incidents risks lending force to allegations that elements are institutionally antisemitic.” The MPs call for sweeping reforms of Labour’s disciplinary procedures, saying Baroness Chakrabarti had not tackled its failures. They criticise Mr Corbyn for “lack of consistent leadership” and not un understanding the issue. It said he did not see that people wh who spoke out about racism c could still be antisemitic. The report adds that Jewish MPs have endured “appalling levels of abuse”. In an astonishing 640w word response, Mr Corbyn ac accused the committee of a “d “disproportionate emphasis on Labour.” He also said that the reportre “unfairly criticises” Baroness Chakrabarti.
