Honey is sticking to herself

- EXCLUSIVE by Emma Pryer

Londoner Gifty has told how she suffered depression after her mum Stella’s death in a car crash.

Crying

At the time of the loss, Gifty was only ten. Six years later she attempted suicide. She said: “When I tried to kill myself, the whole time I was thinking, ‘Finally, I get to join my mum in peace. The pain goes away from now on.’

“Then waking up in hospital was a life-changing experience. I felt like I had been given another chance to live.”

“Her words of encouragement built me up as a person. I suffered with anxiety. I never realised it at the time, but my dad’s death a few years ago caused my depression.

“I was with my friends who were with their dads and it hurt. I wished my dad was there. It was when I was at university and I was by myself a lot more so I became more of an introvert. Gifty said

all these things you’re going through now will make you stronger. She said these feelings are temporary and when you look back you’ll see how much stronger you’ve become.

“Now I have my confidence back. I can see her advice was true.”

Harrowing

She said Gifty had told her about her own harrowing experience and she may have been depressed because she failed to ask for help.

The teenager said: “I felt so warm when I spoke to Gifty. I look up to her. X FACTOR insiders claim Honey G is feeling alone in the house – because of her age. They say the 35-year-old, who stole the show with her gold jumpsuit and California Love remix last weekend, prefers hanging out with the production team to mixing with the other finalists. The source said: “She’s finding it hard. It’s nothing vindictive, they’re all nice people, but she just feels most of the housemates don’t really get her. It’s a bit like she’s back at school because she’s older and she just prefers being with the crew on the show instead.”

Fellow housemate Gifty revealed that Honey, dubbed the female equivalent to Ali G, is the only housemate with her own room and prefers to listen to rap on headphones than chat with the others.

Gifty, 20, said: “We all get along but I think it’s the fact we are all younger than her.”

Honey, real name Anna Georgette Gilford, also runs an IT recruitment consultancy.
