Russ’s junior branded it’

-

COMIC Russell Brand has revealed he wants to raise his newborn child as “gender neutral”.

He and fiancée Laura Gallacher have a daughter whom they’ve named Mabel – although Brand insists they don’t know the tot’s gender.

“I may not even ever impose a gender upon it, “he added. “Let the child grow up and be the whatever the hell it is.”

Meanwhile, Strictly star Greg Rutherford and his partner Susie Verrill have been criticised for dressing their son Milo, two, in a pink jumper and putting his hair in a trendy top knot.

I thought we’d got over the “pink for a girl and blue for a boy” Barbie or Action Man mentality because old gender stereotypes hamper equal opportunity.

But while your child is discovering ng his or her identity, do you really want ant to be branding them “IT”? A SLOBBERING dog with a stupid grin leaps for joy after beating his female rival in the race to the big prize.

No, I’m not still talking about Donald and Hillary. I mean Buster and Bridget, the stars of this year’s John Lewis Christmas ad.

The TV tales have become as much a part of Christmas as... well, any other attempt to exploit festive sentimentality.

But this year they’ve dropped “sadvertising”, like last year’s Man on the Moon, to celebrate the JOY of Christmas.
