Me and AJ would break records!

-

The IBF champion already has his next two fights mapped out – against Eric Molina next weekend and Wladimir Klitschko in April – so he sees fellow British heavyweight David Haye as irrelevant.

Haye, though, is desperate to meet Joshua next year, after his much-publicised dust-up with Tony Bellew.

On Twitter last week Fury branded the division “s*** ATM” ( at the minute), and added: “So- called killers fighting bums who we don’t know, & old men fighting for titles #Jokers”.

But IBF champion Joshua reckons that because Fury is out of the game the former WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO champ’s views do not count.

Joshua said: “Fury isn’t contributing to the heavyweight division now so he can’t really comment. I don’t see anything wrong with the division. Boxing is thriving, everything is on track.”

As for Haye, Joshua added: “Haye’s a good fighter. If I want to fight Haye, I’ll fight Haye. Whether he beats Bellew or not, boxing is not just about who you beat, it’s about if it makes sense and if it makes sense I’ll fight him.

“After the Bellew fight he’ll look at his situation and if he wants to come for me, no problem. But if I beat Molina it’s Klitschko and when I hear David Haye talking it’s like, DAVID HAYE reckons no one is interested in Anthony Joshua’s clash with Eric Molina.

But he is adamant a heavyweight showdown between himself and Joshua will happen next year – if the IBF champion wants to take on the fight.

Haye will fight Tony Bellew (right) on March 4, and Joshua – providing he beats Molina on ‘You’re not really relevant right now’. Everyone has their journey set out and I have mine, so I’m not really worried about him because if I beat Molina I’ve got Klitschko.”

Rant

Joshua was not named in Fury’s Twitter rant but it is almost certain he was the ‘socalled killer’ being referred to and that Molina was the ‘bum’.

But Joshua, who will only fight Klitschko providing he beats the Texas-born Molina next week, disagrees with the Saturday – will meet Wladimir Klitschko the following month.

If the two men are still unbeaten after those three bouts Haye would love a crack at Joshua – but he is not convinced the feeling is mutual.

Haye said: “Joshua will fight Klitschko in April and hopefully AJ wins that.

“Then whenever it makes sentiment and insists that once you hold a title there are no easy fights.

He said: “All fights are good. All fighters who come in are probably 10 per cent better than what we have seen from them because there’s a chance they could become the champ.

“My training camp has gone well. I trained like I was fighting Klitschko and I’ve maintained that mindset right the way through.

“It has been tough but if it was easy everyone would be training and trying to be a sense to Sky is when it will happen. But it’s only if Joshua wants it.

“You have got Anthony Joshua defending his title in a week and I’ve heard zero talk about it.

“I have got a fight happening on March 4 and it’s headline news.

“Me against Joshua would break all records.” champion, so it comes with the territory.”

Joshua has remained close over the years to trainer Rob McCracken, who steered him to gold at the 2012 Olympics as Great Britain’s boxing team’s performance director, and the pair have officially teamed back up ahead of this fight.

McCracken also trained former super- middleweight champion Carl Froch.

Joshua added: “He has been a mentor for so many years. It helps a lot having people in your corner who you can trust.”
