- By by Vaz Sayed and Alan Selby

Three years ago he visited a sports injury specialist thinking he had a torn ligament because he was in excruciating pain.

But an X-ray and MRI scan revealed he had severe osteoarthritis and needed a hip replacement.

He puts it down to years of dancing, a battle with anorexia in his youth and a history of arthritis and osteoporosis in the family.

Craig opted to have hip resurfacing rather than a full hip replacement.

Instead of part of the thigh bone being replaced with a metal stem, the surgeon shapes the damaged surface of the hip ball and covers it with a metal cap. Now the star is keen to undergo the same procedure again.

Craig, who will appear in the Strictly Christmas Day special, declared: “The titanium hip is fantastic. I wish I could have my whole body made of it.” STRICTLY host Tess Daly is “counting her blessings” after emerging from a year of marital turmoil. fitness regime to shape up her abs and hopes her long-term dream of having a holiday home in the South of France will come true.

She said: “The bottom line is to be healthy, happy and to live surrounded by love. Ultimately I think we all want lives rich with serenity and joy. That’s what matters.”

Part of Tess’s happiness is due to the “good energy” on the Strictly set.

She said: “It’s predominantly run by women. They don’t just do the job well, they make sure everyone is comfortable and nurtured while doing it. Everyone has one goal, to make a great Saturday night show.” Tess told Home Magazine the viewing figures were growing and Strictly’s audience helps create an exciting atmosphere. She said: “You see the audience queuing in the rain and you want to hug them and say thanks so much for coming’.”

Tess’s friendship with co-host Claudia Winkleman, 44, also helps the hit show’s chemistry. Tess said: “She’s hilarious, a laugh a minute. And as we’re mates we can hang out in each other’s dressing rooms. It’s great working with someone you’d like to spend all day with off set.”

Tess reckons the departure of head judge Len Goodman, 72, will leave a huge gap. She said: “We’re absolutely devastated to lose Len.

“Without doubt he’ll be massively missed. He’s the voice of authority on the panel and is well respected.

“However, Strictly is a strong format so hopefully the viewers will see fit to stay with us.”
