Enders star calls in cops over pub attack

FORMER EastEnders actress Kierston Wareing has been forced to call in cops after being repeatedly roughed up on nights out.

The star, who played Kirsty Branning for two years on the BBC soap until 2014, is set to make a statement to police describing how she was assaulted in a pub fracas.

BAFTA nominee Kierston, 39, fractured an arm in the bust-up just before Christmas, which she claimed was filmed as drinkers goaded her despite her obvious distress.

And she told how it was not the first time she had suffered I’M A Celebrity winner Scarlett Moffatt sought comfort from family and friends yesterday as she nurses a broken heart.

Gogglebox star Scarlett, 26, went back to her roots days after it was revealed she had split from boyfriend Luke Crodden.

She travelled from her London base to Bishop Auckland, County Durham, to be with parents Betty, 46, and Mark, 50, with whom she appeared on Googlebox.

She told fans on Facebook it was also “wine time” with two of her girlfriend­s.

Ex-student disability advisor Scarlett has not spoken about her break-up with hairdresse­r Luke, 28, with whom she had discussed marriage during a year of dating.

They moved in together last month but it is believed her hectic schedule made it hard to enjoy time with each other.

She has told pals she hopes they’ll violent treatment while out in public – describing other occasions when she had been pushed, shoved and verbally abused.

The star admitted: “It has happened a few times. It’s horrible – it makes me not want to go out in certain areas.”

Describing the incident in December at The Sutton Arms in Hornchurch, Essex, she said: “I was dancing with my friends and I was pushed to the bottom of the

stairs on to the dance floor. Then

This year she will front a revamp of TV dating show Streetmate. She will also co-host a show with comedian Alan Carr. the bouncers picked me up and threw me out. My bag and coat were still where I had left them when I was pushed. “A huge bump came up on my wrist and I needed to get to the hospital. I was left outside for half an hour and some girl started filming me.” At the time one reveller accused Kierston of ranting: “I am from the BBC – do you know who I am?” But she insisted that was “ridiculous”, adding: “I just wanted my stuff as I was worried about it getting stolen. I was upset and then to have someone start film you was worse. “I will need physio on my arm and I called the police, who have asked me to come in and make a statement. I feel like I should take it further.” Referring to previous nasty incidents she said: “I’ve been shoved a few times, once a girl tried to push me off my seat and I’ve been called names. I’ve had people sniggering at me, it’s horrible.” But she insisted the upsetting encounters would not stop her from working.

She said: “I would never do that, I’ve got some exciting things coming up. If I didn’t go to work it would mean they have won. I just hope it doesn’t happen again.”

Kierston was known to millions of Albert Square fans as the secret wife of Max Branning, played by Jake Wood.

She shot to fame with gritty roles including playing a single mum opposite Michael Fassbender in 2009 movie Fish Tank.

She has also starred in Sky 1 drama The Take and BBC thriller Top Boy. Last year she appeared alongside Idris Elba in Brit flick A Hundred Streets.

In 2008 she was nominated for a TV BAFTA for her starring role in Ken Loach’s film It’s A Free World.

The deputy manager of The Sutton Arms refused to comment.
