Clothing returns they won’t wear

This is an event “outside of the airline’s control” and includes fog. If a flight is delayed or cancelled for reason that is classed as an extraordin­ary circumstan­ce the airline escapes liability for paying out compensati­on, as long as there were no other reasonable YOU want to order clothes to be delivered but you have to be out for most of the day... so what is the answer?

It’s a problem with online shopping that seems to have a number of easy solutions.

But one reader, Liam Harpole, can tell a true story that will make us all a bit more wary.

Liam ordered clothes worth a total of £325 from a large retailer.

At the checkout page on the website he was offered a choice of delivery options. The package could be sent to his home, to an alternativ­e address, such as a neighbour, or to a collection point.

This is now very often seen on websites – especially the option of delivery to a collection point.

Liam chose delivery to a shop near

If your flight was cancelled you are entitled either to be put on another one of the airline’s flights or have your ticket refunded in full. RIGHT TO CARE If your flight is his home in Manchester and the goods arrived there on October 28 last year.

But he was away at the time and did not collect the goods until November 16.

He then tried on all the clothing in the delivery and decided he didn’t like some of the items.

The next day he contacted the retailer and asked what the procedure was for returning unwanted items.

To his surprise they said he was out of time because goods must be returned within 14 days. Liam said he’d had the clothes for only one day. Since then, emails have been flying backwards and forwards between the parties. Who is correct? Liam or the retailer? THE LEGAL POSITION When you buy goods online you THERE is another PayPal scam that has being doing the rounds this week.

Scammers have been sending emails and text messages stating “Paypal Notificati­on.

Your account has been delayed for more than two hours the airline must provide food and drink appropriat­e to the time of day, often in the form of a voucher.

If the delay runs overnight the airline must provide hotel accommodat­ion and transport to reach it – or to return home.

If you go to an expensive hotel of your own choice you will not be entitled to a full refund unless there is no alternativ­e.

You will also be required to produce supporting receipts for everything. generally have 14 days from the date of DELIVERY to change your mind and ask for a refund.

This is thanks to a law called The Consumer Contracts (Informatio­n, Cancellati­on and Additional Charges) Regulation­s 2013.

But the 14-day period starts when the goods are i n the hands of the consumer OR someone named by the consumer to take delivery for them.

In Liam’s case he requested that the goods should be delivered to a collection point.

That means his 14 days started from the moment the clothes arrived at that destinatio­n, NOT when he physically collected them.

It is the same if you asked for delivery to a neighbour.

If you then click on the link you end up in a maze of deception where your personal details are obtained and used to steal your money. These latest messages look really genuine, so be careful.

Never click on one of these links and instead contact the company concerned directly to check if the message is genuine. It is often not.
