HOLLYWOOD is the ultimate magnet for British soap actors hoping to turn domestic fame into global superstardom.

But cracking America is no walk in the park. It doesn’t always work out, and many have found careers going down the plughole quicker than, well, soap suds.

For every success story like Casualty’s Daisy Ridley, 24, who played Rey in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, plenty more fail.
