snaked me out and took the video without my knowing.

“I didn’t find out until midway through the game. I was on the bench and I got told by one of the masseurs that it was my video while the bus was being attacked that got leaked.

“I was thinking that it couldn’t have because it was on my private snapchat. Things happen and I have still the footage from that day.

“It is just memories. As soon as I get on the pitch it is all hard work and I have to concentrate on winning.

“No one’s going to like everything you do and no one’s going to not like everything you do. At that time you could see it all happening and at that time obviously the first thing I did was pull my phone out and start recording.

Tournament

“It’s just another memory slid in the bank, I guess. Stuff like that, there are other bigger issues to worry about.”

One of those concerns is trying to deliver a tournament England can be proud of after disastrous displays at Euro 2016 in France last summer and the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

And as England prepare to face Lithuania at Wembley today, Lingard believes new boss Gareth Southgate and his young squad have the potential to do some damage at next year’s World Cup in Russia.

Lingard just loves Wembley after scoring the winner for United in the FA Cup final last season and bagging another in the recent EFL Cup final win against Southampton.

And he’s desperate to replicate that club form in an England shirt – and score an iconic goal like Gazza’s against Scotland at Euro 96. He said: “I remember the Gascoigne goal and the famous celebration he did, in 96. That’s my first memory of England but it’s all about the future now. “We played against Spain, we competed against Germany and we beat France. So we’re up there now and when it comes to a tournament we’ll be on it.

“We have shown recently that we can compete at the top level.

“I think with the talent that we’ve got in the squad, and obviously the experienced pros as well, coming together, I think we can do damage in the game.”

And when England finally do, Lingard will definitely be smiling. funds, but with the rebuilding of White Hart Lane now expected to top £750m, neither are they in a position where they can turn down such a mammoth offer.

And, in turn, they will look towards United for a replacement – and relieve Shaw of his Old Trafford torment.

Effectively, that means swapping one England international for another – and the potential £20-30m saving will help Daniel Levy’s cash-flow.

Shaw’s days under Jose Mourinho look numbered. He has started matches for his new boss this season, but mainly in the cup competitions, and his name has already been circulated to several agents.

Spurs are likely to take the plunge, particularly as, at 21, Shaw has significant experience and time on his side to rebuild his career.

Rose penned a new four-and-a-half-year contract only a few months ago.

But City can offer a double-your-money deal – and that will be too tempting for the player to refuse.

Rose has established himself as one of the most consistent performers in Spurs’ resurgence under Mauricio Pochettino.

But with Sheikh Mansour giving Guardiola the green light to make significant changes, the ex-Barca boss has Rose’s name at the top of his list. Koeman telling wealthy owner Farhad Moshiri and chairman Bill Kenwright he expects them to cough up whatever cash Everton generate from selling their two most prized assets Lukaku and Barkley.

With 23-year-old Belgian Lukaku valued at £65m after scoring 27 goals for club and country this season and midfielder Barkley worth around £35m as he heads into the last year of his contract, Koeman expects to be handed the lot to finance a new era.

Neither player is willing to commit his future to the Merseysiders. Spurs would take Barkley in a flash but face big competition from Chelsea, both Manchester clubs and Arsenal. Lukaku will have even better options with Real Madrid thought to be interested.

And Koeman knows it will take all of the £100m they could expect from selling the duo to find top-quality replacements.
