Sten’s got Dustin on his hit list

- By Neil McLeman

OPEN champion Henrik Stenson is itching to face another Sunday showdown for a Major title – this time against Dustin Johnson at the Masters.

Super Swede Stenson set a new scoring record when he saw off Phil Mickelson in an epic final round to lift the Claret Jug at Royal Troon last summer.

Now he’d love to sink red-hot world No.1 Johnson, who is on a run of three consecutive wins on the PGA Tour.

And Ryder Cup star Stenson, 40, insists that he has found the belief to beat anyone on the final day.

“I’ll never forget that battle with Phil, and if it comes to it on Sunday at the Masters, I’d love to do it again!” he said.

“It certainly gives me the confidence, going out and shooting a 63 in a final round when it matters the most.

“If I’m a couple of shots back going into Sunday, I know I’ve done it before. So I know I can do it again.

“Dustin Johnson is definitely the hottest player in the world right now so he will be the man to beat, though you can’t take anything for granted at Augusta and the greens can make you look stupid.”

Stenson said winning his first Major at 40 has helped him be hungrier and more fearless on the ‘back nine’ of his career.

He added: “It helps you go after it a little more aggressively if you have the opportunity to win a second Major.

“This will be my 12th Augusta in a row. I still haven’t made the top 10 and been a little defensive in the past. Recently I’ve tried to take on a few more pins.”
