Moyes: Let fans take it out on me

-

SUNDERLAND boss David Moyes admitted he deserved the boos from frustrated supporters as their relegation fight took another unhappy turn with a 2-2 draw against WEST HAM.

His side twice had to come from behind with goals from Wahbi Khazri and Fabio Borini to win a point which still leaves them nine points from safety.

Former Everton and Manchester United boss Moyes, who was jeered throughout, said: “I did hear the boos but it is to be expected because me, the manager, and the team, are not doing well, so we have to accept it.

“I just have to remember, myself, that I have the third or fourth best winning record in the Premier League.

“The support has been fantastic but the manager is not doing well and they are entitled to take their frustrations out on somebody. I have no issue with that.”

SWANSEA boss Paul Clement has told his players they have to beat Stoke at home next Saturday to stay in the Premier League after they crashed 1-0 at WATFORD.

Clement said: “Mathematically, it’s out of our hands. But what is in our hands is a next game at home against Stoke which I believe is a must-win game.

“We are going to need to win three matches out of five and who knows if even that will be enough. But I believe we can do – we’ve won four out of six before.”

Swansea were undone by a defensive howler from centre-half Alfie Mawson at Vicarage Road, giving the ball away to gift Etienne Capoue the winner.

Marco Silva blamed a sluggish start as HULL’S survival fight suffered a blow with a 3-1 defeat at STOKE.

The Portuguese saw his side fall a goal behind inside six minutes after Marko Arnautovic thumped a drive into the roof of the net.

Although Harry Maguire equalised shortly after half-time, a well-placed Peter Crouch header and 30-yard rocket from Xherdan Shaqiri settled matters.

Silva said: “We need to start games differently. We can’t go and start like we did. We gave them the opportunity to score.

“I need to find a solution because we’ve lost a big chance today to take points.”
