CORRIE MELANIE MAKES A BOOT-IFUL BRIDE

- By Janine Yaqoob

CORRIE kebab seller Melanie Hill got hitched yesterday at her local boozer – wearing Doc Martens and a leopard print coat.

Melanie, 55, who plays Cathy Matthews, tied the knot with film producer Jim Daly.

The actressused to be married to Sharpe star Sean Bean. Yesterday she shunned the white dress and went for big white boots covered with red love hearts. Around 30 guests watched them exchange vows. None of the Coronation Street cast were spotted at the bash.

She wed Lord of the Rings actor Sean in 1990 and they have two daughters, Lorna, 29, and Molly, 25. They split in 1997 but remain mates.

Melanie and Jim, 55, have dated for more than a decade and were pals before they got together.

Jim directed 1996 football film When Saturday Comes, which Melanie and Sean both starred in.

Their wedding took place at a pub in Muswell Hill in North London – where Melanie has lived for the past two decades.

Speaking in 2005, when she had just started dating Jim, Melanie ruled out a second marriage.

She said: “I don’t think I’d get remarried. I’ve been married once and, well, I wouldn’t do it again.

“I did think about having more children when we first got together, but it’s too late now.”

Best known for playing Aveline Boswell in 80s sitcom Bread, she went on to star in BBC dramas Waterloo Road and The Syndicate before joining Corrie.

Her love life on the show has been colourful. Since hitting the cobbles in 2015, her character has dated cafe owner Roy Cropper, before starting a romance with former teacher Brian Packham.
