AN eight-year-old British girl was left alone in a Tenerife hotel while her dad went out drinking.
She sought the help of reception staff after coming down from their room, carrying two suitcases, saying her dad had just returned under the influence of alcohol and was “causing damage”.
Police arrested the 52-year-old man, who was said to have come back naked and with a gash to his head.
It is not clear where the girl’s mum was at the time of the incident, which happened in the early hours of Friday morning at the Hotel Aguamarina Golf.
It is thought she was asked to collect her daughter from local social services carers, who took temporary charge of her.
Last September, police in Majorca arrested a British holidaymaker who was accused of abandoning her seven-year-old son in their hotel room to go partying.
The boy was discovered crying and complaining he had woken up to find himself alone.
And last July, police in Benidorm arrested another British woman accused of abandoning her nine-year-old twins to go drinking. One of the boys was discovered walking the streets and the other was found lying in the doorway of his holiday apartment.
A SEVEN-year-old British boy was last night in a critical condition in hospital after nearly drowning in his Lanzarote hotel pool.
His condition was so severe he was transferred to a hospital on the neighbouring island of Gran Canaria.
On Tuesday, a three-year-old British boy died in hospital in Valencia, Spain, nearly a week after falling into a pool at his family villa in the nearby Costa Blanca resort of Denia.
