Poch v Koeman for £22M Maguire

- By Steve Bates

TOTTENHAM and Everton are locked in a £22million tug-of-war over Hull City defender Harry Maguire.

Mauricio Pochettino and Ronald Koeman both rate the 24-year-old centre-half highly – and each want to sign him as soon as the summer transfer window opens.

Maguire recently said he wouldn’t think about his future until Hull’s Premier League fate had been decided.

With the club now relegated and boss Marco Silva quitting, Maguire has decided on a move to stay in the Premier League.

Spurs scouts have been keeping close tabs on Maguire this year and have recommended to Pochettino and chairman Daniel Levy that they pursue a deal amid ongoing doubts about t he disappointing Kevin Wimmer, who has made little progress since his £4.5m arrival from Cologne two years ago.

But Everton are also strong contenders to sign Maguire.

Boss Koeman is now unsure whether he can land Burnley star Michael Keane, who is on the radar of both his former club Manchester United and Liverpool.

Maguire is attracted by the prospect of Champions League football at Spurs, but knows he may get a more regular start at Everton, who enter the Europa League next season in the third qualifying round. MICHAEL CARRICK has agreed a one-year extension to his contract at MANCHESTER UNITED.
