Sunday People

For Labour

-

she will be replaced either by Brexit Secretary David Davis or Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson.

The idea of bungling Boris as PM fills us with the concern we once reserved for Mr Corbyn.

This newspaper is politically independent so we are not in hock to any party. The only constituency we care about is our readers and we want what is best for them.

Whoever leads the Tories is likely to prolong the nine years of austerity we have already suffered.

Mr Corbyn’s Labour promises to end it. He would also end tuition fees, zero hours contracts and public services putting private profit before the public good.

The NHS would be funded properly and nurses would no longer need to use food banks as their pay cap is lifted. The elderly would be protected.

These are all proposals the Sunday People has called for. So we liked what we heard.

But we were unsure whether Mr Corbyn was competent enough to carry them out.

Now we will keep a close eye on him and his squad as they train for the next big match.

He has shown himself through this campaign a worthy captain. He has taken the Reds to the brink of triumph.

We are more confident that he would cope in a crisis.

If Mr Corbyn can keep this up the Sunday People may become one of those cheering loudest from the stands.
