Andy: I’ll see you on court

-

Johanna Konta faces a race to be fit. The 26-year-old (above) hurt her back after falling awkwardly at Eastbourne on Thursday, forcing her to withdraw from Friday’s semi-final against Karolina Pliskova.

Murray was all smiles after a morning hit with young Scot Aidan McHugh and he had further sessions with Englishman Alex Ward and Australian Matt Reid.

And while he was clearly still in some discomfort in that final session he will, barring a disaster, be fit enough to face lucky loser Alexander Bublik of Kazakhstan on Centre Court tomorrow.

Murray said: “My preparation on the grass hasn’t been great but there’s nothing I can do to change that now.

“So it’s about focusing on the first match and finding a way to win and then taking it from there.

“Players going into a tournament with injuries and niggles is nothing new, and it happens frequently on the tour.”

Rising star McHugh, 16, said: “When I have been on with him he seemed fine. He was moving well and hitting well and should be good for the next few days.”

Konta is scheduled to meet Hsieh Su-wei of Taiwan in the first round, but her team are continuing to assess her condition.

A statement from Konta’s representatives said: “We are seeking medical advice and monitoring the situation closely.

“Johanna is hoping to return to practice and will assess the situation further at that point.”
