Carr: Royals are sort of our Kardashians... they do not do anything really

PRINCES William and Harry pay tribute to Princess Diana as a mum in a documentary, saying: “She smothered us in love”.

The brothers open up about their late mother in Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy, which airs at the end of the month.

A trailer shows the pair leafing through family photos and reminiscing. Harry, 32, says: “This is the first time the both of us have ever spoken about her as a Diana’s death, gives a glimpse into the princes’ childhood through a selection of photos and video.

One cute shot shows Wills on a horse alongside a smiling Diana with Harry by her side.

A young Harry pulls a face for the camera while mum holds him close, in another intimate snap.

The release of the documentary comes after both princes told this year how they struggled to cope with their grief.

Mental health charities have praised both for speaking out. JIMMY Carr has likened the Royal Family to trashy US reality TV clan the Kardashians.

The comedian said both families attract mass attention but do nothing.

Referring to Kim Kardashian’s sex tape, Carr said she put in more work to become famous than the Queen did.

Carr also suggested Prince Charles’s main role is to wait for his mother to die so he can become king.

Asked on a US TV show about America’s obsession with the monarchy, the comic said: “They are sort of our Kardashians – they do not do anything but t hey are endlessly fascinating and we also take photos of them, follow them around and are interested in them.”

Talking about the Queen, he asked: “Does she do anything?” He added: “Getting famous for a sex tape – that is something... [ Kim Kardashian] did something. The Queen did literally nothing. “She was just born into that and there is a real analogy on the two things.” Carr, who has performed at several Royal Variety Performances, made his comments during an interview with US comic Chelsea Handler for her Netflix series To England With Love. After the put-downs, Carr said the Queen “is a very nice character... [who] has served the country for a tremendously long time”. He added he has met her “a couple of times”. Handler asked “what does she think of you?”, and the 44-year-old replied sarcastically: “I think there is definitely a chemistry.” The 8 Out of 10 Cats presenter added during the chat in a pub in Kensington, West London, that most people feel the royals “do a good job”. Asked about Charles, ruthless wisecracker Carr replied: “His job is essentially waiting for his mum to die. That is not a great job for anyone.”
