Noble: We are going to be fine and dandy

- By Simon Mullock

WEST HAM skipper Mark Noble has told Hammers fans to forget about the club’s poor pre-season.

Slaven Bilic’s men lost 3-0 to Manchester City in Reykjavik on Friday, with their only victory in six friendlies coming against Fulham.

But with a trip to Manchester United next weekend, Noble is upbeat about the new campaign.

Bilic (below) has spent big to bring in Marko Arnautovic from Stoke and Javier Hernandez from Bayer Leverkusen. Joe Hart has arrived from Manchester City on loan, while the England No.1’s Etihad team-mate Pablo Zabaleta has also moved to the London Stadium.

Noble said: “We have bought quality this summer – players who are proven in the Premier League.

“But they will all still need time to settle in. We’ve put in a lot of work over the last four weeks and the game against City was a good workout.

“I’d rather play in games like that than win 4-0 without breaking sweat because you don’t get anything out of that.

“City are going to be fighting for the title and as we’re going to United next week then the more fitness you get the better.

“You never know with the Premier League. I don’t think there will be any surprises in the top six, but the rest of us will be battling for the top 10.

“Our performances got a lot better at home towards the end of last season and hopefully we can pick up from there.”
