Cops quiz suspect in dog-walk bloodbath
CAGE fighting legend Conor McGregor reckons his boy is an absolute knockout.
The UFC champ looked as proud as punch as he showed off three-month-old Conor Junior, beside his beaming girlfriend Dee Devlin, 30.
Irishman McGregor, 29, was at the UFC Performance Institute in Las Vegas ahead of his clash with boxing icon Floyd Mayweather, 40, in the city on August 26.
McGregor has said his boy is “great motivation”. And as his clash with Mayweather – undefeated in 49 fights – is a traditional boxing bout, every edge helps. POLICE probing the knife murder of an elderly dog walker have arrested a man on suspicion of murder.
The suspect, in his 20s, was held yesterday morning as part of a major investigation into the death of Peter Wrighton, 83.
Retired BT engineer Peter was knifed in the neck and head.
His two dogs stayed by his body until it was found by a passer-by among thick nettles and undergrowth.
The pensioner’s death was first treated as unexplained with an “animal attack” considered as one of the possible explanations.
But a Home Office postmortem examination later found he had suffered multiple stab wounds.
Sources previously said investigators were probing the theory the grandad, of Banham, Norfolk, rowed with another dog walker just moments before he died on August 4.
Police said a witness reported hearing two elderly men having a bust-up in woodland at East Harling, close to where the body was found.
Norfolk Police launched the biggest manhunt in its history, with more than 120 officers working the case.
Peter’s family hailed him as a “lovely, gentle husband, dad and grandfather”. They told how he had a “kind nature” and spoke of his “love of walking his dogs and chatting with people to pass the time of day”.
His wife of 59 years, Ann, said: “Peter was immensely kind and never had a bad word to say about anybody.
“People always seemed to take a liking t o him. We are extremely thankful for all the people who have come forward to speak with the police and hope we will soon be able to understand why this has happened.”
Ann added: “When we think of Peter we remember him with fond and happy memories that will stay with us always.”
