RON NOT INTERESTED IN HARD-LUK

UNDER-FIRE Everton boss Ronald Koeman places his proud unbeaten record at Old Trafford on the line today with the shadow of Romelu Lukaku hanging over him.

The Dutchman has come in for criticism from expectant Toffees fans on the back of three straight defeats.

And he knows the pressure will increase if former Blues striker Lukaku delivers for new club Manchester United today. But Koeman, who has avoided defeat there on previous visits with Southampto­n, and also Everton last season, would not have it any other way.

Koeman said: “I understand and I don’t have any problems with that. I am realistic in life and with being a manager.

“Every manager gets that problem. That’s part of life. If you don’t like it, go on holiday.

“It’s easier to be a manager when everything goes well because you don’t have any problems. Everybody is accepting decisions. But we have had a bad run of results. However, after United we have four fixtures at home, Sunderland in the League Cup, Apollon Limassol in the Europa League, Bournemout­h and Burnley in the league – and it’s important we come through that period with a lot of wins.”

Koeman (right) trusts the Everton board are not as trigger happy as their Crystal Palace counterpar­ts, who sent fellow Dutchman Frank de Boer packing after just four games. He added: “It’s not positive to compare with what happened with Frank as that’s crazy. You get a manager because you want to play differentl­y, then after four games or four weeks you say, ‘No, no, no, I don’t like it, and we’ll sack the manager and take another one’.
