I’ll foxtrot off if baby’s born

- By Janine Yaqoob

ASTON Merrygold says he will dash off the dancefloor if he makes the Strictly final and his baby is born as he dances.

The former JLS star is expecting his first child with dancer Sarah Richards in the new year – but is worried it could put in an early appearance.

With Aston, 29, almost certain to reach the December 16 final despite a less-than-brilliant waltz last night, the singer has revealed he is already making plans just in case.

He said: “If I got to the final it would be amazing, it would be great – but what if suddenly her waters broke? If that happens I’m not going to finish the dance – I’ll be straight out, grab the bag, ‘Let’s go!’”

The prospect of being a dad is not fazing him.

He insisted: “I’m prepared. I’ve got a great support network around me and I’m getting a lot of advice.”

Aston, who has dated Sarah for five years, once told how he got offered sex at least five times a day while in boyband JLS.

But he said: “Of course, those days are over. I’m nicely into a relationship with a baby on the way. It’s all good.”

He revealed his sleep is suffering as he deals with all he has going on. He said: “I’m not getting much sleep as there’s not much room in the bed.

“I’m trying to juggle Strictly and just trying to keep my girlfriend happy.

“It’s fine – but these are going to be the last moments of just me and her.”

The couple met when Sarah was a backing dancer for JLS in 2012.

Sarah was mentored by the show’s ex head judge Len Goodman. Pals say her attention to detail has bolstered Aston’s bid for the Glitterball trophy.

Last night Aston and partner Janette Manrara danced the Viennese waltz to Who’s Lovin’ You by The Jackson 5 – but managed just 25 points.
