Dyche just glad to be in demand

-

SEAN DYCHE admitted he is “flattered” by links to the Everton manager’s job after his BURNLEY side pulled off another impressive away result.

The Clarets have already won at Chelsea and Everton as well as getting points at Tottenham and Liverpool. Yesterday’s 1-0 win at SOUTHAMPTON lifted them to seventh.

Asked about the link to Goodison Park, Dyche said: “Of course I’m flattered but I just get on with it.”

And of the performance at St Mary’s: “Fantastic. The two that came on up front were a credit to their professionalism. They came on and really affected the game today and Sam Vokes’ header was a fantastic finish. What a header.

“Southampton are a very technical team with people who can carry the ball. You have to be resolute in your defensive shape. I think it is a very important part of the game. We still have to fight for every chance we get but we are willing to do the graft.”

Eddie Howe backed his BOURNEMOUTH side to climb clear of relegation trouble after a “turning point” win at NEWCASTLE.

Defender Steve Cook’s header two minutes into added time claimed the points that lifted the Cherries out of the bottom three.

Howe said: “It is psychologically difficult being down there. It is rammed down your throat. Now we have to build on it. Hopefully it is a key turning point.”

Toon boss Rafa Benitez, fuming after a first-half Dwight Gayle goal was ruled offside, said: “We paid for not taking chances but I will not talk about the decisions because I am not very happy.”

SWANSEA boss Paul Clement said he will wait until the anger has settled before addressing his players after the home defeat by BRIGHTON. The Swans were terrible and Glenn Murray grabbed the winner in the 29th minute.

“If you perform at that level you can’t expect to win a game,” said Clement.

“I didn’t say too much to the players after the game. It is best to reflect in a calm manner and give feedback at the next available opportunity. It is difficult to say what went wrong.

“When the goal went in we lost our shape and identity. We had two big chances but they were blocked on the line.” FOR EVERY MATCH REPORT
