HEARTACHE OVER HIT-RUN GRAN
THE FAMILY of a granny killed by a hit-and-run driver have told of their heartbreak.
Police said yesterday that a fourth person, a man of 47, had been arrested over the death of Krishna Devi Droch, 62.
She was hit by a Vauxhall Zafira that is believed to have gone the wrong side of a keep left bollard in Handsworth, Birmingham, on Thursday morning. The car was later found burnt out in a nearby close.
In a statement released by police, Mrs Droch’s family said: “We’ve been left heartbroken.
“She was not only a mother but a daughter, sister, grandmother and aunt.
“This is not only a loss to the f amily but a l oss to t he community.
“Through her kindness and support she was the foundation of our family.
“Although nothing can ever replace what we have lost, her love and care will stay with us for ever.”
Police believe the Zafira was being followed by a Vauxhall Corsa and a Ford Mondeo before the tragedy.
The Corsa and Mondeo have been recovered. The 47-year-old man was last night being questioned on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after he handed himself in at a city police station on Friday night.
A 22- year- old man and two boys aged 16 and 13, who are believed to have been in the Corsa, were arrested in Handsworth on Thursday night and l ater released, under investigation.
