ROOKIE TEENAGE PILOT IN HORROR CRASH

-

A ROOKIE pilot was flying the plane in a 150mph midair crash with a helicopter that killed four people.

Aviation student Saavan Mundae, 18, who had been flying for nine weeks, was on a training flight when he died with his instructor Jaspal Barha when their Cessna 152 plummeted.

Saavan was thought to have lived with his parents in a £1.2million home near Friday’s crash scene, close to the National Trust’s Waddesdon Manor, in Buckinghamshire. The Guimbal Cabri G2 helicopter pilot killed was Captain Mike Green, in his 60s.

His tragic student passenger had still not been named last night.

Captain Green was a senior instructor for Helicopter Services and learned to fly in the Armed Forces.

Ex-colleague Captain Phil Croucher said: “He was a true gentleman and probably t he most respected instructor in the country. Most instruc- tors have been trained by him.” Capt Croucher said an air traffic controller who saw the aircraft vanish on radar had suggested online that the helicopter had been flying in a straight path and the little plane was descending.

He suggested the pilots would have been unable to see in blind spots below and behind.

Families of three of the victims visited the woodland site yesterday as work continued to recover bodies.
