Anton: I’m hair to stay

STRICTLY star Anton Du Beke has had a £10,000 hair transplant after getting advice from actor James Nesbitt.

Anton, 51, noticed he was thinning as he watched his performanc­es on the BBC1 show.

After trying make-up and avoiding being lit from above he talked to the Cold Feet star, 52, whose career was transforme­d by the op – then booked his own.

He said: “I had it done in Dublin as Jimmy Nesbitt mentioned it to me. I thought, ‘Alright. I will have some of that.’ Immediatel­y after having it done I was delighted. I danced soon after my transplant and no one really noticed. Honestly, I was so happy that I just ended up telling everyone.

“I just feel fantastic. I feel 25 again. It has given me so much more confidence appearing on television or having my picture taken.

“I knew that it was the best thing I had ever done. I would be happy to tell all men to do o it.

“It’s the he best thing you will ever do for yourself.” urself.”

Anton – a regular on Strictly ctly since it began in 2004 – explained: d: “I was looking at photos and images ges of myself on TV and I noticed my hair loss more. It was going a bit thin at the front. “This led me to start trying to cover it with make-up and to make sure I didn’t stand under certain lights. “Basically, I didn’t like it very much. “I knew it wasn’t going to improve so that’s when I started to think about having a hair transplant. “I think yo you are either OK with going bald or you yo are not. I thin think the one big th thing for men is the their hair. “Wome “Women have all their thin things but men have h hair. “I looked at it and thought, ‘Oh I will have t his done.’”Anton done.’”A partnered This Morning host Ruth Langsford, 57, on this year’s show until she was voted off last week.

Now he is looking forward to his first Christmas with wife Hannah Summers, 41, and their new twin boy and girl.

“I can’t wait,” he said. “It’s going to be great. They are seven and a half months now.”

With his hair giving him growing confidence, veteran Anton insists he’ll carry on dancing till he’s 100 – and aims to be back on Strictly next year.

“People love it. I think the show can go for another 10 years – I don’t see any reason why it shouldn’t.”

Harry Potter author JK Rowling gave a good luck cupcake iced with three 10s to fellow Scot Susan Calman before her Paso Doble in last night’s Strictly Come Dancing Blackpool special.
