SEX pest actor Bruno Langley’s Coronation Street character has been written out – in a storyline that leaves him in disgrace too.

Langley, 34, this week pleaded guilty to drunkenly groping two women in a nightclub. Now the man he plays, Todd Grimshaw, will also leave with a tarnished reputation after trouble with the law.

Corrie bosses who sacked the actor shortly after his arrest have decided to give Todd the boot by making him go on the run after hitting a police officer.

The undignified disappearance hints at the behind- the- scenes anger felt towards the star and his crimes.

And in a telling remark, Todd’s Corrie mum Eileen, played by actress Sue Cleaver, will say: “He had everything he ever wanted and now he’s lost it all.”

A source told the Sunday People how the scenes were filmed this week as Langley was hauled into Manchester magistrates court.

An insider said: “Corrie haven’t held back with his exit storyline and will not give him an easy way out. t.

“It makes you wonder whether the writers had Bruno’s case ase in the forefront of their eir mind when penning the e scenes.

“Like his character, Bruno has made a stupid mistake which means he could lose everything.”

The disgraced actor, r, who had been in the soap ap for 16 years, pleaded guilty lty to two counts of sexual assault sault on Tuesday.

He was ordered to serve a 12-month community order and was placed on the sex offender register.

Afterwards he left court arm-in-arm with his real mum.

Viewers will see Langley’s former co-stars talk about Todd’s departure from Weatherfield when the episode is screened in the New Year. They reveal how the Street’s first openly gay character has gone on the run after assaulting a police officer during an alter altercation about his foster daughter Summer. Th The girl’s grandmother tries to get custody of her and To Todd sees red, hitting a c cop who try to intervene in the situation. He then manages to escape and the locals all t alk about how he managed to give them the sl slip and might not even be in the country any more. Insi Insiders says the choice of language used by the writers in the scenes is telling, with Eileen calling Todd a “stupid boy” who “never thinks”. Bruno has not been involved in filming the scenes and has not been on the soap set since October after he was suspended and then sacked. A source said: “Coronation Street wanted to address the Bruno issue as soon as possible and completely draw a line under the matter.

“There’s been a strange atmosphere on set. Bruno has been a part of the show for ten years so his co-stars were shocked by what has come out about his behaviour.

“People were torn backstage when it was revealed he was being investigated. Some felt that the stigma of something like this would be devastating if it turned out not to be true.

Wrecked

“But now he’s admitted it there’s a sense of disbelief. They think he’s so stupid and wrecked his career over something he claims he was too drunk to remember.

“People don’t condone his behaviour whatsoever and agree with what has happened to him.

“But there is still a kind of empathy in the sense that his acting career is over.”
