And the stand-up star admitted that being out of her comedy comfort zone made her feel like a shy schoolgirl.

Shappi said: “It feels like I have been on another planet.

“I am grateful for the experience but really and truly for me it was agony in some parts.

Boisterous

“All my clothes were really wet and damp. All the towels were soaking, nothing dried. The trials were getting weirder.

“What was hard was even down to clothing – not being given the stuff that makes you, you.

“The stuff that makes me, me is my family and my job.

“Without stand-up comedy I don’t feel myself. I turn into that shy girl at school who is overshadowed by the boisterous boys.”

Shappi l ost three-and-a-half kilos during her two weeks in the Aussie outback. She said: “The worst thing that happened was I had meat. I was really, really physically sick – five times in one hour.

“It was horrible but then after that I asked for vegan food and they were very accommodating. It was fine.”

But Shappi had another crisis and admits: “I came close to walking. We all miss our kids and I was talking to Becky about how, when you miss your kids, you have to ride the wave and be strong and get over it.

“Two nights before I left I sank under the wave.

“I lay in my hammock and sobbed like a baby and then I got out of my bed and cried and cried and cried.

“That was the point where I thought I won’t be upset if I am voted out first.”

Shappi thinks Iain Lee may also be thinking about quitting the ITV reality show.

“I’d say he would quite like to step out now and get back to the real world.”

“When he’s boxing or talking about boxing, he’s sharp – as a tack. Everywhere else he’s a little boy.”
