Sheikh-up at the Etihad paying dividends E L E VEN Moyes: You can’t leave me, Adrian

- By Tom Hopkinson

DAVID MOYES has told Adrian he’s going nowhere in January and encouraged him to ramp up the pressure on Joe Hart against Manchester City today. The Spanish keeper (below), who revealed in October that he was open to a move away from West Ham, will start at the Etihad, with on-loan Hart unable to play against his parent club. Moyes said: “I don’t know all the things at the club because I’ve only just come in, but I’d be saying there’s no chance Adrian can go in January because we need two top goalkeepers. “In some of the games, I felt as if we’ve needed two keepers in goal. “So we do need Adrian, he’s going to get his chance and if he performs... “If you get the jersey, you have a chance to give me something to make a decision on – that’s what I want to happen with all the players. “If someone comes in, they have to show me they are good enough to play and Adrian will get that chance as well.” Asked about Hart’s performances in the three games since he took charge, Moyes added: “It has been mixed with Joe. “I’ve seen some good stuff and I’ve seen stuff which hasn’t been so good. “I couldn’t say all of it has been great, but Joe would be the first one to say that as well.” Asked which side was the best he has managed against during the years, Moyes replied: “We played Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-finals and Pep Guardiola was the manager of Bayern and I was manager of Manchester United. “Bayern were very good and City are close to that team.”
