LUK OUT FOR MY SCARY PAL

- By Steve Bates

“I will always be involved as a City fan, so whether it’s as a player, a manager, a technical director, a groundsman – it doesn’t matter.

“Whichever way the club sees me helping out, I’ll always be around.”

Kompany was in at the start of City’s magic carpet ride to glory. But after almost a decade in Manchester, and top-flight titles in 2012 and 2014, he still r eckons t hat until Pep Guardiola’s stars start winning repeated trophies there can be no total power shift over United.

He said: “It has changed a lot, everyone can see. But there are a lot of things that are the same as they were 10 years ago – like the reaction once we’ve got 40 points!

“One of the things to change are ROMELU LUKAKU may be struggling for Premier League goals – but Manchester City skipper Vincent Kompany reckons he’s still “frightening”.

The Belgium team-mates and good pals come face-to-face at Old Trafford today, with Kompany admitting he has total respect for the £75million striker.

Lukaku, 24, has scored only once in eight league games, but Kompany believes his fellow countryman is becoming a better player at United.

The Blues defender said: “People have spoken a bit about him having a dry spell. OK, it happens and I don’t think there’s any problem with that.

“But I’ve noticed his overall involvement and play in the game has improved again.

“If someone can improve year in, year out – and always has that thing in the bank that he’s a good goalscorer – then I look at it and say this is serious guy.

“And when you put his statistics up against anyone else, you realise what a frightening prospect he is for any Premier League club to have.”
