Sinitta: I’ll name sex attackers

SINITTA claims she was sexually assaulted by many powerful men over her career – and is planning to name and shame them in a tell-all book.

The Eighties pop star is releasing an autobiogra­phy next year in which she says she will expose her attackers.

Sinitta, 54, who f eels empowered after the Harvey Weinstein scandal, said: “I thought strength was staying quiet. But I actually think that kind of strength is interprete­d as weakness and I think we are doing each other a disservice by not speaking.

“It is to say, ‘It probably looked like you got away with that – but you haven’t’.”

Sinitta, who has confided in close friend and former lover Simon Cowell over the abuse, added: “It’s not about revenge. I was assaulted by a very powerful person. It is scary because you think of the repercussi­ons. I’m a single mum and a single woman, literally – it does feel very scary. “But after all these years of putting a smile on my face, to think these things haven’t affected me – I thought that was bravery. “It hasn’t stopped me living my life but it actually damages your confidence. You have this child inside you weeping but you are pushing forward. “I think it’s going to be empowering in the end but you’ve got to do it scared. There are multiple men, I have been around a long time.” Sinitta, who shot to fame with the single So Macho, has remained close to music mogul So Simon, , 58, s since ce her e Eighties g pop heyday. The pair previously dated and she has regu regularly appeared on The X Factor. But they fell out this year when he refus refused to employ her as a guest judge on the show. Now Sinitt Sinitta has healed the rift with the telly t PETER Kay’s close pal Steve Pemberton has told how the comic would have “never wanted to cancel his gigs”.

The 44-year-old left more than 1.7 million t i cketholder­s disappoint­ed when he axed his first tour in eight years last week.

But Steve, 50, star of The League of Gentleman and favourite and says he helped her when she told him about the sex attacks. . She said: “That is a security y blanket, you want to know someone omeone is there for you.

“It’s scary when you stand up to people. le. People say ‘oh you’re Sinitta’. . But I’m an artist, I’m a female artist. I was a child star. I’m famous mous but you don’t feel powerful ul when things like this are going ng on.”

It is understood the sex assaults s are among a series of explosive ve revelation­s she will make in n her book.

She added: “There e are s o ma many n y people e in our i ndustry who have ve taken abuse of their r power so it’s a shame when you’ve ou’ve got heroes.”

Sinitta ta also said she was not loving bi being single i l after ft splitting litti from publicist Jason Gale.

He said: “I’ve been thinking about him. It’s a big thing to cancel, he wouldn’t have wanted to do that at all. We’ve been sending him our love.”

The duo both appeared in 2005 film The League of Gentlemen’s Apocalypse as part of a starstudde­d cast which also included Simon Pegg, Michael Sheen and Victoria Wood. Car Share comedian Peter apologised last week for calling off his 112 standup dates “due to unforeseen family circumstan­ces”.
