Swans’ Car still needs a good service

-

CARLOS CARVAHAL got a win in his first match but said SWANSEA was still far from “birds and flowers”.

Goals in the last four minutes at WATFORD from Jordan Ayew and Luciano Narsingh gave the Swans their first triumph away from home since August and lifted the club off the bottom of the table.

Carvahal said: “I don’t think one win means everything will be in paradise, with lots of birds and flowers. It will still be very hard to stay up but we believe we can.”

Rafa Benitez pleaded with NEWCASTLE fans to stick with their struggling team.

Newcastle and BRIGHTON battled out a goalless game, which left Newcastle with just one win since October, and Benitez admitted his side were “anxious”, adding: “The supporters have been really good for a while. Watching these games they have to realise we need them behind the team.”

Sam Allardyce accused his players of letting down goalkeeper Jordan Pickford as EVERTON’s seven-match unbeaten run came crashing to an end.

Ryan Fraser’s deflected shot two minutes from time gave BOURNEMOUTH a 2-1 win after Gana Gueye had equalised Fraser’s first-half goal. But Big Sam grumbled: “I think the players should be disappointed that they have let Jordan down.”

BURNLEY boss Sean Dyche accused referee Paul Tierney of getting the big decision wrong after his side were denied a clear penalty in the non-scoring draw at HUDDERSFIELD. The official dismissed second-half appeals after home keeper Jonas Lossl clipped Jeff Hendrick and Dyche said: “Everyone will see it is a penalty.”

Antonio Conte has made it clear to Manchester City CHELSEA won’t surrender the Premier League title without a fight.

Chelsea demolished STOKE 5-0 and Conte said: “We have to try to put everything into every game to get three points and put pressure on teams above us.”

Stoke boss Mark Hughes has admitted tomorrow’s clash with fellow strugglers Newcastle is a “must-win game”.

Hughes said: “If we can win that will give us two wins, a draw and a defeat to Chelsea over the Christmas-New Year period.” FOR EVERY MATCH REPORT
